ReactOS is an open source effort to create a Windows NT 4/2000/XP+ compatible operating system licensed under the GNU public license. In partnership with the WINE project, ReactOS also supports drivers which work under Microsoft Windows.

Latest Changes:
Freeldr was improved
HAL's key areas have been significantly improved (irql-related, bus support, kd-functions)
The Kernel experienced a massive rewrite of incompatible parts (and is still in the process of improvement)
Run-time library (Rtl) got a lot of improvements and bug fixes
Bugs were fixed in kernel-mode drivers and a better USB driver was added
Registry-support has been greatly improved thanks to addition of "cmlib", a library shared by the boot loader and the kernel to handle binary registry hives; it even supports binary registry hives created by Windows
More fixes in the Win32 subsystem and user-mode DLLs
Boot video driver (and a splash screen) was added

Note:

Installation CD
With the Installation CD, you can install ReactOS on a computer.
The CD image contains a Debug Build of ReactOS including the Kernel Debugger KDBG.


Live CD
The Live CD lets you try ReactOS without installing it on your hard drive.


Preloaded with QEMU
This download includes the current version of ReactOS preinstalled on a QEMU virtual machine. A Windows version of QEMU is also bundled, so you can easily check out ReactOS.


Preloaded on a VMware virtual machine
This package contains a VMware virtual machine with a preinstalled version of ReactOS.
